DHL inaugurates European air hub, expands network infrastructure to better access international trade lanes
DHL officially launched its state-of-the-art European air hub on 26 May.
Located at Leipzig / Halle Airport in Germany with an investment of approximately 300 million Euros, this European air hub enhances DHL's speed and global connectivity. It is situated at a crossroads to provide direct North-South and East-West access to Europe, and connects Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Asia.
The hub is one of the industry's most technically advanced hubs. It comprises a distribution center - the largest and most modern sorting line in Germany – an aircraft hangar, apron, tank station and administration building.
As the first DHL facility able to meet its electricity, heating and cooling energy self-sufficiently to a significant extent, the hub demonstrates DHL's commitment to sustainability through implementing a number of environmentally-compatible operations.
